Since more than 75 years, Miller’s is one of the most recognized and largest professional photo lab organizations in the United States. The company successfully provides professional prints and press products in highest product quality, and is the preferred lab of professional photographers in the US.

In the year 2003, Mpix, a brand of Miller’s, was launched to serve end consumers that value photo quality and craftsmanship. A variety of photoproducts, from Cards and Prints to Lay-Flat Photo Books and Home Décor, is supplied in a second-to-none quality to this target group. In terms of high-quality production, Miller’s relies on bookbinding machinery by Swiss supplier Imaging Solutions AG. The Miller’s success story started in 1939, when Bill Miller opened up a small photography studio in downtown Pittsburg, Kansas. He started as a portrait and wedding photographer, and with his passion for photography, Bill Miller recognized the potential for a full service photo lab, developing prints for other professional photographers.

In 1968, a new 3,900 square-foot facility was set-up to solve the growing market demands. Since that time and with twelve building expansions, the Miller’s Pittsburg lab today is a nearly 170,000-square-feet facility. To meet the needs of digital photographers, Miller’s opened a second location, an ultra-modern, 44,000 square-feet facility in Columbia/Missouri in March of 2001. The staff of both labs reaches up to 640 members during the peak seasons, serving customers in all 50 states and Canada.

Miller’s has a rich history in photography. Richard Miller, Bill’s son and CEO of Miller’s, is a Master Photographer, twice having been named Kansas Photographer of the Year. Vice President, Dick Coleman, is also a Master Photographer. Dick’s son, Todd Coleman, is President and COO. In 2003, Miller’s launched Mpix, a fully web-based digital imaging lab to service both, emerging professionals and photo enthusiasts. For anyone who desires real, reliable quality at any time, Mpix provides high-class prints and products, just like the professionals, at extremely competitive prices. End consumers benefit additionally from premium professional paper options and exclusive designs. Another brand, MpixPro, was launched in 2009, catering to single-studio photographers looking for price savings and simplicity. Miller’s Professional Imaging continues to support established photographers with a full service one-stop business model.

In the year 2014, Miller’s Professional Imaging upgraded its production facilities with several highly productive Imaging Solutions systems for the manufacture of Lay-Flat photo books. “Customers really pushed us in this direction. It gives them the entire spread to work with when designing panoramic layouts without losing image quality across the seam”, explains Todd Coleman, Miller’s COO and grandson of founder Bill Miller. “We have seen tremendous growth since we launched Lay-flat binding for both, the Miller’s Signature Album line with +25 % volume increase, as well as the Mpix Premium & Softcover Panoramic Books (+30% volume increase) over their previous versions”, he adds.

The labs offer both versions, silver halide printed books as well as press printed books for each line. One of the company’s most important focuses is turnaround time, in terms of how quickly orders can be executed and be shipped. With the switch to lay-flat books, produced on Imaging Solutions bookbinding systems, Miller’s was able to maintain its legendary quick production time (1-2 days on book orders). “Mpix really sets the standard here. Customers benefit from the fastest turnaround in the consumer lab industry and a flat shipping rate, regardless what is ordered”, informs Todd Coleman.
